Access Groups

Access Groups control where users can apply their permissions or what parts of the system a user can access. They determine what UIs, maps, and data sets are visible or accessible to a user.

Example:

If a user is assigned the “Viewer” role and linked to the Warehouse A Access Group:

  • They can view (but not modify) workflows
  • Only maps, UIs, and data tagged under Warehouse A will be visible

Access Groups act as logical containers for scoping user access.

  • Go to Administration > User Access > Access Groups.

Reorganizing the Access Group Hierarchy

You can move an existing Access Group to a different parent group without changing the assignments that already belong to the group. Its sub-groups move with it. Use this when you need to reorganize the Access Group hierarchy while keeping the group and its assignments intact.

Go to Administration > User Access > Access Groups. The list displays the hierarchy in the Group Name column and includes a Move Group action for each group.

Move a Group by Dragging

  1. Drag the group onto the group that should become its new parent.
  2. To move the group to the root level, drag it to the Drop to move [Group Name] to root level area that appears above the list.
Dragging an Access Group to the root level

Drag an Access Group onto another group to make it a sub-group, or use the root-level drop area to remove its parent.

Move a Group from Actions

  1. In the row for the group that you want to move, select Move Group.
  2. Review the Current Path.
  3. In Target Group, select the group that will become the new parent.
  4. Select Move group.

All sub-groups move with the group that you move.

Variable Management in Groups

Access Groups also support shared global variables that can be consumed across tagged modules.
